Wearing a black suit and tie, Jimmy Carter made an uncommon public appearance at his late wife Rosalynn Carter’s burial ceremony earlier this week.
After declining further medical care, the former president was placed under hospice care in February. He was present to assist his wife in her final hours before she died away.
Carter reportedly used his children’s wheelchair assistance to attend Rosalynn’s memorial ceremony at Atlanta’s Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.
Before the memorial service, Jason Carter, Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter’s grandson, provided an update on his grandfather’s health and expressed his prediction that the 39th President of the United States would not survive long.
Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter had spent nearly their entire lives together, having known one another since they were young children in Plains, Georgia.
It made fitting, then, that the two would be together on Saturday, November 19, Rosalynn’s last moments. Although it was expected that the former First Lady would pass away at the age of 96, many have taken the time to remember her life on Earth.
Rosalynn reportedly passed away in her Plains, Georgia, home on November 19 at 2:10 p.m. From 1977 to 1981, the former First Lady worked at the White House with her husband; nevertheless, during that time, she focused on humanitarian programs through the Carter Center.

Unfortunately, Rosalynn and Jimmy’s health has been worse over the past year. Jimmy Carter began receiving hospice care in February after refusing medical attention for several health conditions.
It’s widely believed that with Rosalynn’s passing, Jimmy’s condition will quickly worsen.
Jason Carter, Rosalynn’s grandson, seemed to corroborate this to the New York Post before her funeral.
He said, “He’s very, very physically diminished, and he’s coming to the end.”
“She really was that rock for him, but he has been this moral rock for so many others.”
During Rosalynn’s emotional memorial service, Amy Carter, the couple’s daughter, read a letter Jimmy sent to his wife while he was serving in the Navy overseas.
“My dear, each time I’ve been apart from you, I’ve been overjoyed to come back and realize how amazing you are,” he wrote in the letter. “I fall in love all over again when I see you.”
