My stepson requested me not to marry his father just minutes before my wedding, and I was utterly stunned by what he offered me in response.
I never thought Jason would end up being my husband when we first met in a little café. He introduced me to his 13-year-old son, Liam, and our bond quickly developed. He accepted me as his mother and was a good-natured, respectful youngster.
We made the decision to hold a small wedding with only our closest loved ones. Everything appeared to be ideal. When the big day finally came, I was ready to wed the love of my life and was dressed stylishly.
Liam visited me just before he walked down the aisle. He looked anxious and said he needed to speak with me in private. I followed him out of concern, and when I inquired as to what was wrong, he said, “Please, don’t marry Dad.”
“I love you so much,” he added, his eyes genuine. You make the best pancakes and are a nice person.
“Dad is going to hurt you,” he continued, his voice shaking. Additionally, I don’t want to remain here and observe it.
Then he handed me an envelope that he had taken out of his pocket. My heart was broken by what was inside. I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing, and I was devastated.
My hands were shaking when I opened the envelope.
Several recent debt notifications and lawsuit filings for things Jason had never brought up were found within. However, the printed emails were the worst.
conversations in which Jason and a man named Mike discussed a strategy in a chilly manner.
Phrases like “We start the divorce process once everything is legally protected” or “Secure the assets through marriage” made me shudder.
What I was reading was unbelievable.
Everything I believed to be love was actually a tactic.
“I didn’t want to lose you, but you deserve better,” Liam replied, sobbing.
Then everything was different.
To keep Jason from suspecting anything or hurting Liam, I entered the room and declared that the wedding was called off without providing an explanation.
