A couple was astonished to learn the cause of a shelter dog’s odd behavior when they noticed that the dog didn’t sleep at night and continued to stare at her owners 
The couple had wanted a puppy for a long time. They were looking for someone who would make their house feel cozy and happy. They chose to adopt from a shelter rather than purchase a puppy in order to give someone who has already experienced betrayal a second opportunity.
They knew right away that she was the one when they spotted her—a large, fluffy white dog with gentle eyes. The dog rapidly adapted to the house and even her new sleeping location next to the bed. She was kind and obedient, and she never barked without cause. Except for one odd aspect, everything appeared to be ideal.
The dog would occasionally be sitting on the bed, staring at the couple without blinking when they woke up in the middle of the night. She just silently observed them without snarling or moving. Her eyes had an eerie quality to them.
The wife attempted to comfort herself, asking herself whether she was dreaming.
Or perhaps she’s bothered by something,” the husband proposed.
However, the same thing occurred night after night. The dog would occasionally even put her paw on their face or chest. When the wife woke up one night, she discovered the dog sitting right on top of her husband and using her paws to press him down. She was afraid.
They made the decision to install a camera the following morning in order to monitor their surroundings while they slept.
They were appalled by what they witnessed when they viewed the footage 
All night long, the dog sat beside them on the television, observing their every move. She would occasionally approach them in silence and place her paw on their stomach or chest, seemingly in an attempt to choke them.
The woman was utterly terrified. She demanded that the dog be taken back to the shelter.
She informed the shelter worker, “This isn’t normal, but she’s not aggressive.”
— What took place? Has she bitten anyone?
— No She simply acts oddly. She watches us at night as if she wants to harm us.
The shelter employee paused, then let out a long sigh:
God, such a pathetic animal. Most likely, you were unaware. She had been owned by an old man, perhaps eighty years of age. One night while sleeping, he passed away. The dog awoke next to him and remained by his side until the neighbors showed up.
The room was silent.
She is most likely now merely terrified of losing the person she loves once more. She keeps an eye on you to make sure everything is well and that you are breathing. She is keeping you safe.
The man bowed his head to conceal his sorrow as the woman started to cry. Together, the three of them went home after giving the dog a hug.
She still sits next to them at night today, but the pair now gives her a kind and appreciative gaze
