At a zoo, a gorilla suddenly lunged at a man in a wheelchair, grabbing the handles and refusing to let go. Zookeepers rushed in, trying desperately to pull him away—but what happened next left everyone in shock
The man was a regular visitor. Long before the accident, when he could still walk, he had worked at the zoo as a caretaker. He loved the animals deeply—and they seemed to love him just as much.
Even after retiring, he kept coming back almost every Saturday. He would spend hours near the enclosures, watching the animals eat, play, and interact—feeling like he still belonged there.
That day began like any other. The man in the wheelchair was standing near the monkeys and gorillas, quietly observing them. Then, without warning, one of the female gorillas approached him. She stared for a moment… and suddenly grabbed his wheelchair, pulling it toward her.
Panic erupted. Visitors shouted, staff rushed over, trying to pull the chair back—but it was useless. The gorilla was far too strong.
In seconds, she dragged him closer, lifted both him and the wheelchair, and gently placed him inside her enclosure.
“Get a tranquilizer! There’s a man inside!” someone yelled.
A crowd gathered, frozen in fear. The man sat still, knowing how dangerous gorillas could be. He thought this might be the end.
But then… something completely unexpected happened
Instead of attacking, the gorilla slowly approached him… and gently embraced him. She pulled him close and began rocking him softly, like a baby.
The keepers stood frozen. The crowd fell silent. Then someone whispered:
“She remembers him…”
The gorilla held him with incredible tenderness, as if protecting him. After a moment, she carefully placed him back into his wheelchair and guided him toward the fence.
The staff quickly pulled him to safety.
He didn’t say a word—but his expression said everything. He had recognized her.
It was the same gorilla he had once raised and saved many years ago.
