When the German Shepherd spotted the girl in a wheelchair who wanted to take the most dangerous dog home, it began to bark and then did this.
The paralyzed girl had made the decision to come to the shelter for the first time that day. She had long dreamed of a dog that would be there not just for play and walks, but for actual support.
As she approached the large room with the kennels, the wheels of her wheelchair made a quiet creaking sound on the floor of the passageway.

Each dog tried to attract attention by jumping and barking; some joyfully wagged their tails, while others barked loudly and jumped at the bars, begging freedom. The girl paused at each kennel and examined each one closely, but her heart didn’t speak. Her spirit was not touched by any dog.
She was starting to believe that her visit had been in vain when her eyes abruptly turned. A German Shepherd was lying there in the shadow of the bars.
It didn’t bark, didn’t try to go quickly, and didn’t even glance at anyone. A large, strong dog with perceptive eyes appeared to be sleeping soundly, oblivious to the chaos around it.
“There.” The girl abruptly and forcefully pointed to the Shepherd and stated, “I want that one.”
The shelter employee’s eyebrows shot up in surprise:
“You don’t understand, ma’am. This dog is a serious issue. It is crazy and attacks people all the time. Nobody is able to manage it. We even thought about setting it down.
The girl simply shook her head and grinned:
That’s alright. “Everyone has imperfections,” she remarked, gesturing to her wheelchair. “I would like to meet it in person. Take a look at those eyes.
“Well… as you wish,” the man moaned deeply. “But I caution you: things could go wrong.”
A tense silence descended around the shelter as the kennel was opened and the Shepherd was taken to the girl. Visitors retreated in terror, and staff froze. Everyone anticipated a disastrous outcome, including the dog lunging, baring its teeth, and biting her hands or legs.
The Shepherd came to a tight halt far away. Its eyes were on the girl in the wheelchair, and its ears were perceptive. The seconds were agonizingly slow. Abruptly, the dog stepped closer to her and let out a loud bark. Its bark reverberated off the walls. Everyone let out a gasp; some even put their hands over their faces in anticipation of the worst.
But then the dog did something unexpected.
The dog stepped forward warily. Then another. It moved slowly. The girl sat motionless, staring it in the eyes and grinning.
The Shepherd then unexpectedly approached, leaned down, and lightly pressed against the girl’s legs. It sniffed the wheelchair and her knees before abruptly lying down at her feet and closing its eyes.
The girl’s heart pounding, she extended her hand, and the dog accepted her pet without flinching or growling. Additionally, it let out a long sigh and oddly dozed off at her feet.
There was a dead silence in the room. People couldn’t believe their eyes. Someone muttered:
“This has never occurred… This dog used to trust no one and bite everyone.
Leaning forward, the girl whispered:
“You are mine now. We’ll be together.
Indeed, they returned home together that day. The Shepherd that everyone had feared, along with the girl.
