During the wedding, my dog attacked one of the guests and bit her on the arm: we were horrified when we realized why he did it

When we discovered why my dog had attacked and bitten one of the guests on the arm during the wedding, we were appalled.

Our wedding day was the happiest day of my life. I was getting married to the woman I truly loved. Everything had to be flawless because we had spent more than a year getting ready for this day. The ceremony was attended by about a hundred people, including friends, relatives, and coworkers. It was just happiness.

Everyone approached us to offer their congratulations and to wish us many years of happiness, love, and loyalty. When my bride took a brief break to take photos with her pals, I was standing among the guests.

All of a sudden, a stranger in a long green outfit came up to me. Assuming she was a guest from my wife’s side, I accepted her congrats without being impolite. However, there was a strange tone to her voice. She talked as like she had known me for years, remembering specifics, dropping clues, and making far too personal jokes.

I became uncomfortable. But before I could respond, an unforeseen circumstance occurred.

After lying quietly beside our table, my dog, Koko, sprung to his feet, ran over to the woman, and bit her arm. The woman begged us to take the dog away as she wailed in agony and terror. My bride was among the guests who rushed over.

“What’s happening?” she yelled.
One of your relatives was bitten by Koko, someone said.
— Who? Which relative?

I gestured to the green-clad woman. I’ve never seen this woman before, my wife said in a whisper in my ear as she moved closer and gave her a quick glance. She is not a guest of ours.

There was panic. Who was she? She was there, but why? What caused Koko’s reaction? My dog appeared to be attempting to defend us by barking and trembling.

To find out what was happening, we had to break up the celebration. The woman was taken off the property after we phoned security. We discovered the horrifying truth about this woman’s true identity and the reason behind the dog’s behavior just a few days later.

The woman turned out to be my ex-girlfriend’s mother. Before I met my wife, we had dated. She went through a really trying period following our split; she lost her job, moved out of town, and was about to have a breakdown.

Her mother thought I had “ruined” her daughter’s life and blamed me for everything. Her purpose for attending the wedding was to ruin it. We don’t know exactly what she had in mind. However, Koko was the first to notice that anything was off.

If it weren’t for him… The possibilities are too great for me to even consider.

My dog is now my real guardian angel, and I no longer consider him to be only a pet.
