Dreaming of taking his lover’s wealth with him, he threw his wife into the water. However, three years later, something occurred that completely upended their world and made it into a nightmare.
For a long time, Laura stood in front of the mirror, stunned by her good fortune—her husband had asked her to go on a romantic sea voyage today. She hoped it was a sign that they would be able to get back together. There was a glimmer of hope in her heart that things might begin again.
As they arrived at the secluded pier, Mark extended his hand to her, and she accepted it, stepping into the wavering boat. Her husband’s tight fingers and vacant eyes went unnoticed by her. It was a date for her. Farewell for him.
Seagull cries blended with Laura’s laughter as the glasses clinked. She talked about her love, children, and the future. He then waited for the ideal time.
Laura’s dreams were dashed when she came to the railing and spread her arms in the direction of the sunset. After a brief pause, the chilly waves enveloped her body. Her own scream, sucked up by the sea, reverberated in her ears.
Nobody took notice. aside from the woman who was using binoculars to observe from the shore. With a satisfied smile, she dialed a number and said, “Darling, everything went perfectly.”
However, they had no idea that their well-planned mystery would become a nightmare three years later.
Three years later, Mark and his new partner appeared to be living a tranquil life: traveling, owning a home by the sea, and having money in their possession. Then the first blow was delivered.
In a lovely envelope came an anonymous letter that had no signature. Simply said, “She didn’t drown.” Mark’s heart fell. His fingers grew white as he scrunched the paper firmly.
Everything took a turn for the worst after that day. He sensed someone observing from the shadows every night. He went crazy when he heard silent phone calls on the other end.
Carla, his partner, initially chuckled but soon began to notice odd things as well: footprints in the sand close to the home and an open window that they hadn’t left that way.
Mark got another message a month later. This time — a picture: a woman wearing a dress, looking a lot like Laura, was standing on the beach. In the caption, it said, “I’m back.”
Mark and Carla attempted to persuade themselves that it was a coincidence or someone’s practical joke. Laura, however, knew how to be subtle. Instead of making her identity public right once, she made covert contact with old business associates.
These began as brief conversations in cafés and progressed to private negotiations. She promised them a piece of future shares in exchange for their assistance in helping her restore control of the business.
Laura steadily destroyed Mark’s affairs with the aid of her former allies: contracts lost their force, trusted individuals departed, and agreements fell through. Although each move appeared to be an accident, they all seriously damaged his reputation.
Laura came out when Mark and Carla had virtually nothing left. She had witnesses, records, and proof that everything that had occurred was part of her plan.
She sued Mark, claiming that he was responsible for planning the assassination attempt.
It dawned on Mark and Carla that their tranquility had been a lie. Their lives became a public nightmare, complete with trials, investigations, and reputational damage.
Standing at the front of her company, Laura merely grinned subtly: justice had won on her terms, and retribution was complete.
