Haha!Even though I spent the entire day taking care of her child, my daughter refused to let me even touch the food in their refrigerator. At that point, I made the decision to give her a lesson she would never forget.
I was ecstatic when my daughter gave birth to a son. However, that happiness soon gave way to anxiety because she was unable to take a real maternity leave due to her demanding profession, which required her to be present all the time.
I was happy to assist because I couldn’t leave the infant unattended. I would arrive at her house every day at eight in the morning and stay with the infant until the evening.
I washed the laundry, bathed him, fed him, rocked him to sleep, and took him on daily walks. The ironing board became my best friend.
Before things changed one day, everything continued as usual.
I chose to take a snack that day as I was exhausted from a lengthy stroll. I grabbed an apple and some cheese from the refrigerator. However, I then received an unexpected message from my daughter:
— You have no right to remove food from the refrigerator. Our money was used to purchase all of that.
I was taken aback.
However, I’m here every single day. Do I have to go hungry?
Bring your own food that you have purchased. “We’re not a cafeteria,” she said icily before leaving for her room.
That’s when I discovered my daughter had become egotistical and didn’t value my assistance at all. So I made the decision to give her a lesson she would truly remember. I hope I made the correct decision.
Then, as I held the apple in my hand, it became very evident to me that I had brought up a greedy and uncaring person. Where did I make a mistake?
I gave her all of my emotions and strength, and I was there for her no matter what. In exchange, I got coldness and a complete lack of appreciation.
The following day, I skipped it. I gave her a call myself at eight in the morning:
You’ll need to find someone else to take care of the baby, darling. I will no longer be attending. I’m too old to feel alienated in a home that used to be filled with love and affection.
She was taken aback. She yelled and attempted to place the responsibility on me, but I had made the decision that I would no longer be used as a quick fix.
I still have a deep affection for my grandson. However, I refuse to be treated like a maid any more.
