While on vacation, the husband left his pregnant wife with his mother to dig potatoes; nonetheless, the neighbors were surprised by what transpired in the garden one day.
The sea had long been in the man’s dreams. His wife foolishly thought her spouse would be by her side when she became pregnant and doctors banned her from flying. However, one day he said icily:
— Why squander the money on tickets that have already been purchased? You can go to my mother’s village and assist her with the chores while I go alone.
The woman was at a loss for words. Even though she was six months pregnant and her back ached from even the smallest bend, she dared not protest.
When her husband went on vacation, she was assigned to live with her mother-in-law in a village where the only “rest” was laboring in the flower beds, the water was only cold, and the bathroom was behind the shed.
The mother-in-law prepared soup every morning, set a bowl in front of her, and said bluntly:
You should work before you eat.
The expectant mother went to the farm and worked in the dirt for several hours. Because her spouse had left, she dreamed of the sea at night, not because she had ever been there. He texted her pictures from the shore. Short captions: “As you mentioned, I’m resting.”
The wife was digging potatoes that day. He didn’t pick up when she called him.
She was in the garden one day when she suddenly felt lightheaded. Gasping for breath, she fell to her knees in the muck. Glancing down at her, the mother-in-law emerged into the yard and stated sardonically:
You’re not ill; you’re pregnant. The potatoes won’t dig themselves up, so there’s no time to sit about.
The woman’s strength failed her when she attempted to stand up. Then it took place.
The pregnant woman fell face-first to the ground, as witnessed by a neighbor. She cried out and demanded assistance. The woman was transferred to a car by neighbors who hurried over and hoisted her up.
The doctors at the hospital made the awful statement that the infant could not have been rescued if they had waited a little longer.
Everyone in the village has now shunned the mother-in-law’s home. She had caused the expectant woman such suffering, and no one could forgive her. When the husband returned from the sea, he discovered his wife in the medical ward, her eyes no longer filled with love.
