Some of the incredible young talents on the Got Talent program are even Elvis impersonators. One of the AGT judges, Howie Mandell, has called this boy the “new Elvis of country music,” despite the fact that he is not an imitator.
Fort Worth, Texas-based Drake Milligan has been singing for years, even imitating his childhood hero, Elvis. But as he grew older, he took music more seriously, writing his own songs and performing with a band in Nashville.
Drake’s current goal is to use America’s Got Talent to launch his career, much like Elvis did by taking advantage of the southern dance scene. Many musicians’ careers were launched by AGT, and Drake hopes to be the next.
The audience and judges recognize a great young man when Drake starts singing an original song, “Sounds Like Something I’d Do.” And it’s simple to see why he’s been compared to his childhood idol when he performs a few “Elvis jiggles.” This audition is excellent.
