As usual, I went shopping on Sunday and bought everything I needed for the week.
There was nothing to suggest that today would be any different. On the second day, however, I wanted to make supper and set the table for the family once I got home from work. The surprise arrived at that moment. 
The tomatoes from the previous day were in a condition I had never seen before when I opened the refrigerator.
I was immediately drawn to these little, odd marks on their skin. I even became frightened, believing that something was amiss. Was it an indicator of mold or spoiling?
I was taken aback when I realized what it was.
After giving it some thought, I saw that these blemishes weren’t merely the result of storage or heat.
I discovered that insect bites, such as those from tomato worms, especially gray or white ones, frequently result in this type of harm.
These insects leave visible markings, like the ones we see here, after penetrating the tomato’s flesh. Though unsettling to people unfamiliar with these bugs, it’s a rather regular occurrence.
It’s not necessarily the result of carelessness or poor handling.
These bites can occasionally also be caused by illnesses or particular circumstances associated with tomato farming. In any event, despite my initial fear, I came to understand that it was really a typical aspect of these veggies’ life cycles.
Ultimately, despite their markings, these tomatoes were still quite edible. A brief lesson in tolerance and embracing the flaws in nature!
