When an elephant assaulted multiple automobiles on a busy highway and even wrecked one, people were frightened until they learned the true cause of the odd behavior
Unexpectedly, traffic stopped in the blazing sun. There was a huge elephant in the center of the road, and drivers were honking and others were leaning out of their windows. With a frightened flap of its ears, it slammed its trunk into a white automobile. People yelled, tried to reverse, panicked, and recorded everything on their phones as the bumper cracked.
The animal refused to move despite people’s yelling, honking, and attempts to turn around.
The elephant seemed to be looking for something as it shuffled between the automobiles. Its actions seemed strange; it appeared desperate rather than merely aggressive. Wildlife rangers and police officers showed up a few minutes later. In an attempt to scare the animal away, they activated their sirens, but it ignored them. It seemed incapable of hearing anyone.

The experts learned the cause of the elephant’s behavior when they eventually approached and successfully led it away
A baby elephant was struck by one of the cars that had driven by just minutes before, and it lay just a few dozen meters from the road.
The calf’s death was instantly recognized by the veterinarians. Beside it stood an adult elephant, perhaps the mother, who would not budge an inch. She was guarding her kid, not realizing that it was already gone, which is why she had been fighting the cars.
The cops advised everyone to stay in their cars and closed the route. The scientists couldn’t use a safe tranquilizer to put the elephant to sleep until nightfall.
After the elephant passed out next to her calf, they were both carefully returned to the wildlife reserve.
Witnesses later said that nobody was upset that day. There was silence. The sole response from those whose vehicles were destroyed was, “She was just protecting her baby.”
