Parents assemble in the tiny community hall on the day of Sunny Days Nursery School’s yearly toddler dance recital, cameras ready and hearts brimming with excitement. For weeks, the toddlers, who range in age from two to three, were under the careful supervision of their enthusiastic teacher, Miss Emily, while they rehearsed their dance routine.
Soft music starts to play as the curtains open, and the children, clad in brightly colored tutus and tiny ballet shoes, saunter onto the stage. The sight of their lovely children causes the crowd to collectively “aww.”
The toddlers try to imitate Miss Emily’s choreography as the dancing performance starts. Some shuffle, hop, and swirl in their own special way. A dynamic atmosphere is created by the audience’s laughter and applause.
But as the training goes on, it becomes clear that different kids interpret things differently. Ignorant of the dancing movements going on around her, a small child in the front row chooses to separate from the others and spin in circles with her arms spread wide.
While the music is playing, Tommy, another child, unexpectedly sits in the middle of the stage and intensely studies his shoelaces. Tommy is determined to examine his shoes closely, despite Miss Emily’s best efforts to bring him back into the rhythm. See a funny video in the comments section below.
